Ankle Arthroscopy

- Ankle Fusion (Arthrodesis)

Ankle fusion surgery is performed in patients who are suffering from Ankle Arthritis and symptoms such as pain, inflammation or swelling. This surgery involves joining Ankle bone to other bone using screws or plates. The cartilage between bones is removed and bones are joined in such a manner that in due course of time the get fused to each other as they heal.

- Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD)

This occurs when a fragment of bone in a joint separate from the rest of the bone because its blood supply is faulty, and there is not enough blood to maintain it. This separated bone fragment causes pain, inflammation and joint soaring which need to be treated with a surgery.

- Lateral Ankle Instability

Lateral ankle sprains are among the most common injuries incurred during sports. Lateral ankle sprains typically occur when the rearfoot undergoes excessive supination on an externally rotated lower leg. Along with acute ankle sprain, deficits in postural control, proprioception, muscle reaction time and strength typically occur, which can lead to chronic ankle instability. Arthroscopy is helpful in diagnosing as well as treating the ankle instability with repairing the damaged ligaments.

- Huglund’s Disease

This is a bony bump which forms in the back of heel due to frequent pressure of tight shoes. This bump when gets rubbed against the shoe can cause the irritation of soft tissues. This condition can be treated with Arthroscopy where the Surgeon removes the bump and clear the debris and excise the bursa.
