Wrist Arthroscopy

The ailments of wrist can also be diagnosed and treated with the help of arthroscopy.

- Scapholunate (SL) Instability

It refers to one of the most frequent types of wrist instability, resulting from rupture or weakening of the SL supporting ligaments. It remains asymptomatic and stable for prolonged periods of time. Stability is multifactorial and involves normal joint surfaces, ligaments, muscles, and a complex network of neural connections linking all these elements. Failure of any one of these factors may result in carpal instability. Spectrum of injuries can occur to the scapholunate interosseous ligament, which may be difficult to detect with imaging. Wrist arthroscopy enables detection and management of injury to the scapholunate ligament under bright light and magnified conditions, in both acute and chronic situations.

- Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) Repair

TFCC complex is a structure found between the bones of forearm and the small wrist bones,it is triangular in shape and made up of ligaments and cartilage. If TFCC is damaged or injured, arthroscopy surgery is done to return full function in affected wrist, hand & arm.

- Loose Body Removal

People who complaint with Wrist pain often suffer from loose body in radiocarpal joint. Wrist arthroscopy has a special value because the preoperative diagnosis is usually difficult. With arthroscopy surgery the pain can be reduced without any complication.

- Adhesiolysis

Adhesiolysis, or the removal of adhesions or scar tissues inside wrist area. Adhesion is a band of scar tissue that binds two parts of your tissue that are not normally joined together, this restricts the wrist motion. Arthroscopy surgery is helpful in getting rid of this adhesion and improves the normal function of wrist and its movement.
