Sports Medicine Rehabilitation
- Functional Training Programme

Functional Training Programme is a well-structured form of Exercise regime that involve training the body for day-to-day routine activities. This training helps a person to perform daily tasks with much ease and minimum efforts.

- Sports Specific Training

To make the athlete better in whatever sports he/she is into, sports specific training is fitness and performance training regime developed specially for such athletes at Adtoos Clinic.

- Strength and Conditioning Training

It involves a range of structured exercises which focuses on improving strength and endurance of major muscles in the body.

- Biomechanics correction

Body mechanics (response to body force and displacement) are set of principles which analyze motion of body and role of mechanics in development of injury. Biomechanics correction is positive alteration in joint position which improves movement and function, thus reduce chances of any injury or pain.

- Assessment (Fitness Testing)

Fitness Assessment consists of analyzing body measurements and its response to various types of exercises and tests, this determines overall health and physical fitness levels of the body and allows the assessor to find-out what areas need more attention to improve overall fitness of the body.

- Injury prevention and Back to Sports

Most sports injuries are caused by improper training, using improper equipment or wrong stretching techniques and are due to either trauma or overuse of muscles, ligaments, tendons or bones. At Adtoos Clinic, we specifically focus on injury prevention through proper assessment and training to athlete, and also management of injuries are done with the help of medical, surgical intervention and/or physiotherapy rehabilitation.

- Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a holistic approach to reduce the risk of injury in the future as well as helps in restoring the normal body movement in case of injury or disability. Physiotherapy includes physical examination, patient education, physical intervention, rehabilitation, disease prevention, and health promotion. Few of the Physical therapy modalities include:

• Cryo Therapy

Cryotherapy is application of ice to treat injuries. Various types of soft tissue injuries like ankle sprain, muscular sprain, ligament sprain and swelling, tendinitis, acute injuries can be treated with this method.

• Short Wave Diathermy (SWD)

This method uses electromagnetic energy to produce deep heating in joints and soft tissues. The diathermy machine does not apply heat directly to the body. Instead, the waves generated by the machine allow the body to generate heat from within the targeted tissue. It’s commonly used for conditions that cause pain and muscle spasms such as; sprains, strains, bursitis.

• Interferential Therapy (IFT)

It is a type of electrotherapy treatments that use electric currents to stimulate tissue which provides relief from pain.

• Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)

It is non-invasive method of electrical stimulation which provide pain relief by affecting sensory nerves.

• Therapeutic Ultrasound (US)

It provides deep heating to soft tissues in the body. Ultrasound Therapy helps in increasing the blood flow of a localized area in order to reduce the swelling and inflammation in that area. it is generally used in case of a Myofascial pain, or a muscle strain or sprain, scars, or adhesion.

• Paraffin Wax Bath (PWB)

It is an application of the molten paraffin wax on the body part to minimize muscle spasms and inflammation as well as treat sprains.

- Physiotherapy Assessment

The success of rehabilitation program depends on how accurate is the physiotherapy assessment done. In this process, chief complaints, history, observation and examination is done for reaching to provisional diagnosis. This helps a Physiotherapist to determine best rehabilitation programme and exercise regime for expected results.

- Pre and Post Rehabilitation

Pre-surgery rehabilitation allows patients to prepare for surgery safely under the supervision of a physiotherapist. Physical therapy prior to surgery helps reduce pain and inflammation. It improves joint mobility and range of motion to prepare patient for a more successful surgery outcome. Post-surgical rehabilitation is crucial to regaining pain-free function and returning to daily activities safely and more quickly. Post-operative rehabilitation safely eases patients back into daily activity and routine.

- Diet and Performance Enhancement Program

Diet is key component when it comes to success in sports. Athletes use a range of dietary strategies to improve performance, although availability of nutrition information for athletes varies, athletes will benefit from the advice of a certified dietician or nutritionist. At Adtoos Clinic, Sports Certified Dietician helps athletes in guiding on right and adequate diet and nutrition to boost their performance in sports.

- Osteopathy

It involves physical manipulation of muscle, tendon, bone and joint for relieving the pain due to structural imbalance. Osteopaths use a variety of manual techniques such as stretching, massage, muscle energy techniques and joint articulation. High Velocity Thrust techniques/joint manipulations are also used where the restricted joints are cracked to release built up gases in them.

- Taping

Kinesiology taping is very popular among the sports community. Taping produces pressure and stretch on the skin that may be able to stimulate mechanoreceptors. This stimulus interacts with Central Nervous System and modulates pain responses. The tension imposed from the tape frees the fascia of any movement limitations through the movement of the skin relative to the target tissue.

- Dry Needling

This technique is performed by a trained & experienced Physiotherapist where thin monofilament needle is inserted into muscular trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.

- Cupping therapy

In this process a special heated cups are placed over the body which creates suction through negative pressure that decompresses muscles and connective tissue thus help in relieving pain.

- Neuro Rehabilitation

Neuro Rehabilitation is a program designed for people with diseases, injury, or disorders of the nervous system under supervision of multi-disciplinary team. Neurological rehab can often improve function, reduce symptoms, and improve the well-being of the patient.

- Peads Rehabilitation

Pediatric rehabilitation encompasses a wide variety of conditions, from neurological disorders to musculoskeletal abnormalities that affect growth and development of the child. Developmental delay, specifically in gross and fine motor skills and cognitive abilities, is a common concern of parents; thus, an understanding of normal growth and developmental patterns are essential and accordingly the therapies are introduced.

- Fascia Manipulation

Fascia Manipulation (FM) is a science-based treatment which involves manual therapy of the muscles and fascia (connective tissue) to reduce pain.

- Yoga Fitness

Yoga is an ancient form of total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation. At Adtoos Clinic, Yoga is considered as integral part of fitness programme under certified Yoga Trainers.

- Crossfit Training

Crossfit is a system of training which is based on a variety of exercises performed with great intensity. The intensity of the exercises and free movements without the supervision of a qualified professional can cause injuries. These high intensity exercise training is done under expert’s supervision at Adtoos Clinic which eliminates chances of injury and helps in getting expected outcome.

- Traction

Traction is a technique used to stretch soft tissues and separate joint surfaces or bone fragments using a pulling force. It reduces pressure on affected vertebral discs that are causing pain. Traction is a manual 'stretching' of the spine which reduces pressure on the discs and therefore reduces the pain.
